You don't need charcoal for these incense burns, just a tea light.  The resins, herbs and wood types are simply placed on the fine-mesh sieve. You can protect the sieve with a layer of aluminum foil or an empty cup from a tea light. This way the sieve stays beautiful for longer. The rising heat from the tea light in the lower part of the barrel ensures that the incense glows gently and slowly.
