Herbalist & phytotherapy
A Herbalist is a professional herbalist who knows how to interweave age-old traditions with modern scientific research and knowledge. Using traditional methods, with a great sense of responsibility and a great love for nature, the Herborist picks, dries and processes herbs into herbal products that belong within a natural lifestyle and natural health care.

The focus is on herbal preparations, providing information and courses/workshops in the field of natural health and advising herbal products for uncomplicated complaints. This also includes growing plants and maintaining a herb garden.

Phytotherapists, on the other hand, focus on the treatment of physical and psychological complaints with the help of medicinal plants, nutrition and lifestyle. We work from a holistic point of view where we look at people as a whole and not just the health question the client presents.

This is only a brief summary of the profession of herbalist and herbal therapy. There is much more to say about it. This will be discussed during the introductory meeting and during the training itself.
Lesson program
become a skilled herbalist & phytotherapist
Here you will become acquainted with the modules of the curriculum. The topics are covered over four grade levels. It is just a brief summary of topics covered. More topics are offered during the course and there is room for students' own input.

You can read more about the curriculum in our brochure.
Testing and exam
We want to keep the threshold for testing and the stress it causes for most students as low as possible. We know from experience that some students perform less well under the pressure of a final exam, while they have excellent knowledge and skills without this pressure.
Yet it is important to test knowledge and skills. This way you know where you stand in your learning process and the teacher can properly monitor how the student's learning process is progressing.
At Eleoflora we choose to build up an exam file during the course of the study with interim tests and an exam file that must be complete at the end of the training*.
Exam file components
General
- Accessible module tests.
- Lesson preparation assignments.
Annual project:
- Year 1: Making herbarium.
- Year 2: Construction of a (herb) garden or description of a nature reserve.
- Year 3: Educational project.
- Year 4: free choice according to the student's interests.
Year-end closing(annual)
- General test (multiple choicequestions) about the main points of the modules.
- Practical test: Preparation of a herbal product according to protocol.
- Recognize 20 medicinal plants from the botanical garden.
- Final interview.
What if....
What if you are unable to complete the exam file on time or with a less positive result?
There is always a second chance for all parts. You will receive feedback if a part is still insufficient and you will receive tips to improve these points.

We not only look at your measurable performance, but also at your commitment, motivation and perseverance. We will also discuss your options if you are unable to take the accessible assessment for whatever reason. Perhaps another form is more suitable for you.
Some components can be postponed if a student has a good reason for this.
Everything is negotiable.
Study without exam stress
Students can choose the herbalist & to follow phytotherapy without building up an exam file. You will then receive proof of participation but no diploma. If you have proof of participation, you can choose to take the exam later. If you have professional plans for a practice, you must submit an exam file. More information about the training, the costs and general terms and conditions can be found in our brochure
